I am an IT Professional and scientific/environmental researcher. My main activity in my commercial IT role over recent years has been the development of an Enterprise Logical Data Model for Maersk Line, a large container shipping company.
In my scientific research role, I have developed a simulator, SimSoup, that models molecules and reactions in an artificial chemistry (an ‘analogue’ of real chemistry). For the latest SimSoup research papers see the Publications page on this site.
SimSoup has been developed in C++. Over the years I have very much enjoyed coding in C++, and believe that a good background in object orientation and other code design topics is beneficial for my commercial IT work.
Currently I am working with Friends of the Earth (an environmental charity) on a voluntary basis to build a ‘UK Land Calculator’. This draws on research into a wide range of land uses to provide a user friendly tool that enables users to experiment with land use choices. The purpose is to increase awareness of land use issues and encourage discussion.
